Two generations of Japanese designers have created for established European design brands. We are spotlighting Naoto Fukasawa and Nendo showing their specific styles, use of material and their influence on European design.
Show #06 - VAN SEVEREN MULLER VAN SEVEREN – a family affair
October 12th 2014 - January 24th 2015
Belgian master Maarten van Severen was an example for many including us. His workshop furniture created in the 80’s and 90’s are inspirational and his translation of these designs for Vitra are a huge commercial success. This year Lensvelt reintroduced his original workshop collection in accordance with Maarten’s strict standards.
His son, Hannes van Severen together with his partner Fien Muller, both artists, collaborated to create ‘Muller Van Severen’. Their poetic furniture masterpieces are spatial drawings in steel, leather, plastic and marble. Both collections were born in the workshop where material and craftsmanship play a central role.
Both collections, a generation between them, hit you right in your soul.
